1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and the Mentie Team ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Mentie application and all related services. By accessing or using the Application, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and that you accept these Terms in full.

If you are under 18, we encourage you to review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

2. Description of Service

Mentie is a personal growth and wellness application designed for teens and young adults. The Application provides:

• An AI-powered mentor chat for emotional support, guidance, and motivation
• Structured daily plans (lock-in, calm-down, glow-up, social, all-in)
• Breathing exercises, journaling, and affirmations
• A homework helper feature using AI and camera input
• Streak tracking and progress insights

3. User Accounts and Eligibility

To use certain features, you may be asked to provide a name, age range, and preferences during onboarding. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Mentie
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You must not share your account with others
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Mentie is a subscription-based application. Access to premium features requires an active paid subscription.

Billing Terms

• No free trial: All subscriptions begin charging immediately upon purchase. There is no free trial period.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• Payment processing: All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Prices are in USD and may vary by region due to currency conversion or local taxes.
• Renewal notification: Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Price changes: We may change subscription prices with advance notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Cancellations and Refunds

• You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then
• We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except as required by applicable law or platform policies
• Refund requests must be directed to Apple Support or Google Play Support, not to Mentie directly

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Mentie only for its intended purpose and in a manner consistent with these Terms and applicable law. You must not:

• Use the app to harass, harm, or deceive others
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Application
• Use automated tools or bots to interact with the mentor or any feature
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful content through any app feature
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written consent
• Attempt to circumvent subscription requirements or access paid features without payment
• Share your account credentials with others

6. AI Mentor Chat

The mentor chat feature is powered by artificial intelligence. By using it, you acknowledge and agree that:

• The mentor is an AI, not a human — it does not provide professional medical, psychological, or legal advice
• Responses are generated automatically and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete
• You should not rely on mentor responses for crisis situations — please contact emergency services or a mental health professional if you are in danger
• Conversations may be processed to improve the service, in accordance with our Privacy Policy
• We are not responsible for decisions you make based on mentor responses

7. Homework Helper and Camera Use

The homework helper feature uses your device camera to capture images of problems for AI-assisted solving. You agree that:

• Camera access is used solely for homework input — no photos are stored or transmitted
• You will only use the homework helper for legitimate academic assistance
• Using the feature to cheat in exams or violate academic integrity policies is your own responsibility — Mentie accepts no liability for academic misconduct
• AI-generated solutions may contain errors and should be verified independently

8. Intellectual Property

All content within the Mentie application — including but not limited to the design, text, graphics, illustrations, plans, affirmations, and software — is owned by or licensed to the Mentie Team and is protected by copyright and intellectual property law.

• You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Application without our written permission
• Your personal journal entries and notes remain your own — we claim no ownership over content you create

9. Privacy

Your use of Mentie is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Application, you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Application is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Application will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully secure
• The AI mentor or homework helper will always provide accurate or complete responses
• The Application will meet your specific needs or expectations

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Mentie Team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Application — including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content, data loss, or interruption of service.

Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for your current subscription period.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Application at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to the Application or its users. Upon termination, your right to use the Application ceases immediately.

You may stop using the Application at any time by deleting it from your device and cancelling any active subscription.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Application or by email. Continued use of the Application after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Application shall be resolved in the appropriate jurisdiction for your location.
