What is Mentie? โ–ผ

Mentie is a personal growth and wellness app for teens and young adults. It gives you a supportive AI mentor, daily moves based on your goals (like studying better, sleeping easier, or building confidence), plus tools like breathing exercises, journaling, affirmations, and a homework helper.

What are the different plans? โ–ผ

Mentie has five plans you can choose from: lock-in plan (deep focus and studying), calm-down plan (sleep and anxiety), glow-up plan (confidence and habits), social plan (communication and relationships), and all-in plan (a mix of everything). You can switch plans anytime from the settings screen.

What is Calm Mode? โ–ผ

Calm Mode activates when you select the calm-down plan or toggle it from the home screen. It shifts your daily moves to focus on winding down โ€” like putting your phone away before bed, breathing exercises, and reducing mental spirals. The app's tone and suggestions adjust to match.

What does the mentor do? โ–ผ

The mentor is an AI that checks in with you, listens to how you're feeling, and offers support or guidance. You can vent to it, ask for help sleeping, talk through something stressful, or just say what's on your mind. It's not a human therapist โ€” but it's always here and never judges. Think of it as a calm, supportive voice in your pocket.

How does the Homework Helper work? โ–ผ

Tap the Homework icon, then take a photo of any problem โ€” a math question, essay prompt, science problem, and more. Add optional notes to specify what you need (e.g. "solve question 3"), then tap "Solve it." The AI will walk you through the solution step by step. No photos are saved or uploaded to our servers.

What does Mentie cost? โ–ผ

Mentie offers two subscription options: $4.99/week (billed every 7 days) or $49.99/year (billed once annually โ€” saves over 80% compared to weekly). There is no free tier or free trial. Payment begins immediately when you subscribe.

Is there a free trial? โ–ผ

No, Mentie does not currently offer a free trial. Your subscription begins and is charged immediately upon purchase. You can cancel at any time to avoid future charges.

How do I cancel my subscription? โ–ผ

Subscriptions are managed by your App Store or Google Play account โ€” not directly through Mentie. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period after cancelling.

Can I get a refund? โ–ผ

We don't process refunds directly โ€” all refund requests go through Apple or Google. On iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, visit Google Play's help centre. Refunds are subject to their respective policies.

Why was I charged unexpectedly? โ–ผ

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period. If you weren't expecting a charge, it's likely an auto-renewal. To prevent future charges, cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the next billing date. If you believe there was an error, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.

Can I switch from weekly to yearly? โ–ผ

Yes! You can switch plans by cancelling your current subscription (it stays active until the period ends) and subscribing to the yearly plan when you're ready. If you'd like help timing the switch, email us at support@mentie.app.

How do I delete my account? โ–ผ

Email support@mentie.app with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." Please include your name or account identifier and specify whether you'd like a full deletion or to only remove certain data. We'll process your request within 7 business days.

Where is my journal data stored? โ–ผ

Your journal entries are stored locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app, your journal data will be deleted. We cannot recover it, so if you want to keep it, copy it somewhere safe before uninstalling.

Is my mentor chat private? โ–ผ

Your conversations with the mentor are processed by AI to generate responses and may be reviewed in anonymised form to improve safety and quality. We do not share your conversation content with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Can I export my streak and progress data? โ–ผ

Yes โ€” contact support@mentie.app with a data export request and we'll provide your streak history and move completion data in a readable format.

technical help

The app is crashing or not loading. What do I do? โ–ผ

Try these steps: (1) Force-close and reopen the app. (2) Check for an available update in the App Store or Google Play. (3) Restart your device. (4) If the issue persists, email us at support@mentie.app with your device model and iOS/Android version and we'll investigate.

The Homework Helper camera isn't working. โ–ผ

Make sure Mentie has camera permission in your device settings. On iOS: Settings โ†’ Mentie โ†’ Camera โ†’ enable. On Android: Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Mentie โ†’ Permissions โ†’ Camera โ†’ Allow. If permissions are on but it still doesn't work, try restarting the app.

My streak didn't update even though I completed a move. โ–ผ

Streaks update once a daily move is marked as complete. Make sure you tapped "mark done" on the move. If you completed it but the streak didn't register, try closing and reopening the app. If the problem continues, contact us and we can review your account.

I'm getting an error when trying to subscribe. โ–ผ

Subscription errors are usually handled by Apple or Google. Check that your payment method is up to date in your App Store or Google Play account settings. If you see a specific error code, email it to us at support@mentie.app and we'll help.
